In a significant step toward promoting climate-smart agriculture, vegetable farmers in Menengai recently benefitted from a practical training on Vertical Garden Technology, facilitated by agricultural innovation experts from Griincom. This training aimed to equip local farmers with the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to implement sustainable, space-efficient farming methods within their homesteads and small plots.
The session introduced farmers to vertical gardening—a technique that maximizes limited space by growing crops vertically—and demonstrated how to construct the garden structures using affordable, locally available materials. Participants also received guidance on integrating drip irrigation systems, which conserve water while maintaining optimal crop growth.
